Dream catcher Necklace
Exhibition - Within the space of a dream
Description
"Liquid Silver" necklace made of tubular (Heishi) beads in sterling silver and turquoise mix, with a Dream Catcher pendant and a little turquoise nugget.
In Native tradition, the dream catcher is hung on the bedroom window and has the power to catch all dreams. The bad dreams are hold in the net until dawn and are burnt by the first sunbeams. The good dreams find their way to the center of the net and driven down. Hold in the feathers, they will come back during another night.
"Liquid silver" is a traditional Navajo work. Silver tubular beads (called heishi) are hand-strung together in order to create one or several strands. This gives a fluid aspect to the jewel, that makes think to silk or water running on the skin, explaining why the Navajos gave this name to this process.
