Ma'ndebele Black Multicolor Socks 37-46
J00138398
The name of the "Ma'Ndebeble" motif is composed of the prefix and the word "Ma'", meaning mother nature, maternal guardian or figure. The motif also refers to the fact that many motifs designed and painted by the Ndebele tribe were created and realized by elderly women, often mothers and grandmothers, and this was their assumed role. We've taken the term "Ma'" and used it to honor and celebrate not only this tribe, but also the women of the past who led the way in passing on this design style to the current generation as well as to inspired future generations.
This pattern is inspired by this tribe, but also seeks to present this design style in a new, contemporary way by focusing on the fundamental shapes used. The simple shapes become a design language that represents community and unity, while the colors applied are used to denote joy and a sense of optimism, painting Africa as a colorful continent of joy, showcasing a new contemporary design with a contemporary color palette.
