Claudine de Lyon
Events - The Musée des Confluences celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Description
'I'm tired of taking orders. I want to choose for myself. I know what I'll do: I'll go to school, I'll learn lots of things.' Claudine was eleven years old and worked ten hours a day in her father's workshop, weaving silk. This life exhausted the little girl, who fell seriously ill. To get better, she went to the country. Claudine wanted to regain her health and had no desire to return to Lyon to work. What she wanted most of all was to go to school and fulfil her dream of being able to read, write and, above all, draw.
