Every year, when the snow melts, flocks of migratory birds invade the skies above the Great Lakes region, where Susan and Martha live. At the end of the 19th century, migratory birds became a new source of wealth and were hunted down by the thousands. The two young women questioned this excessive hunting, eventually inciting acts of resistance.
With great delicacy, Lune Vuillemin brings to life the story of this powerful female friendship, imagining the fate of those who were already fighting for the animal cause.
The author
Born in 1994, Lune Vuillemin grew up deep in a forest in the Aude region of France, then lived in British Columbia, Quebec, and Ontario. Back in France, she writes, always in search of life, however small, in the forest, by the water, or in the tall grass, with a novel and her writing notebook in her pocket. She is the author of Quelque chose de la poussière (Something in the Dust), published by Éditions du Chemin de fer in 2019, and Border la bête (Border the Beast), her second novel, published by La Contre Allée in January 2024.
