Description

At a flea market in Brittany, the narrator finds a worthless painting for twenty euros, one of those "art excrements" that he loves. Back in Paris, he is convinced by his neighbour that the object he has bought could be of some value and ends up scraping off the layer of paint that would lead to the final answer. And then, a disconcerting surprise!

Our narrator is drawn into an investigation with many twists and turns, where the works of a neurotic 18th century painter hide a strange mystery. When the future invites itself into the past... By one of the masters of the black novel, a delicious story that questions the relationship between art, death, an S63 telephone, a bus and a helicopter.

Born in 1946, author of more than seventy noir novels (including eleven in the Série Noire) and a hundred or so short stories, director and creator of collections, divided between cynical distance and libertarian seriousness, Jean-Bernard Pouy evokes, in most of his stories, the dysfunctions of our contemporary society. He is the creator of the character Gabriel Lecouvreur, known as Le Poulpe, for the Baleine publishing house, of which he is a founder.
